Roosevlt Takedown Jamboree a Huge Success

Our annual takedown jamboree was a huge success as twelve area schools met in the Roosevelt gym for a day of testing, fixing, prepairing, greeting, and of course wrestling.

A lot of hard work went into this years event with our veteran leaders Keith Weinberg and Kelly Kajumulo leading the charge. We thank you so much for all your hard work.

Also, a big thank you to Tim Dickenson, Simone Groh, Taka Olds, Mrs McGreevy, Mrs Appel, Mrs Nguyen, Mrs Hannish, Mr and Mrs Austin and Phillip Slonniker.

As far as I could tell the table help was flawless. Tom Skoog, Mr. McAlpine, Mr Hill, Mr Peterson,  and Matt Dickenson were just a few of the great helpers.

Thanks to our good neighbors at Nathan Hale for use of their awesome new mat. And a nod to Mr Steckler for the use of his trailer to get that new mat somewhat safely from Hale to Roosevelt and back again.

And last but not least, thank you to all the participating schools; Blanchet, Lindbergh, Skyline, Cleveland, Ingraham, Shorecrest, Bellevue, Franklin, Emerald Ridge, Nathan Hale, and Eastlake.

Let’s do it again next year.

A Question About Headgear

November 26, 2016

A wrestler asked about headgear and I thought it would be good to clear the air.

There are a lot of different headgear available on the market.  Most headgear are really bad. They use Velcro and/or have hard plastic ear covers that can be extremely painful to the opponent.

We allow two and only two styles of headgear. One is the  “Cliff Keen Signature™” 4-strap FOAM headgear. The other is the Matman 32 TWO STRAP EARGUARD. All other headgear are  BANNED.

Here are the links for each style.

Takedown Jamboree is set for Tomorrow, November 26th

November 25, 2016

The mats are out and the gym is set and ready to go for the Roosevelt Takedown Jamboree set for tomorrow, November 26th.

The weigh in is at 8AM for anyone who wants to participate. The doors open at 7AM.

It should be a great day of wrestling, especially for the new wrestlers and their parents.
