New Wrestler Info
New Wrestlers
If you are a sophomore or a freshman just entering Roosevelt High School this fall, now is the time to start thinking about joining the wrestling team. Wrestling is a fun, no cut individual sport with a supportive team atmosphere. There is lots of great competition available for both experienced wrestlers and newcomers alike. Whether you are 105 lbs, 145 lbs or 275 lbs, there is a spot on the team for you.

If you are new to wrestling, we look forward to seeing you in November. Wrestling is a tough sport, but it is great fun and everyone is welcome. Freshmen and Sophomores are especially encouraged as the sooner you get involved, the better you will become.

Freestyle Wrestling – Feb – May

February 28, 2012

The Freestyle Wrestling Season runs from February through Mid May and it is a great way for wrestlers to work on their skills and move up to the next level. The Freestyle gang is a good group of kids, lots of freshman and sophomores looking to get better. At this point in the season there are 5 RHS wrestlers, a couple each from Blanchet, Ballard and Garfield, etc and we are looking for more. Practice is M-W 6-8 and there are weekly tournaments if you want to go.

From Senior Night, Newport Dual

The Freestyle season is run by local wrestling clubs, not the state school district. The rules for Freestyle (or “Olympic”) Wrestling are different that the Folkstlyle wrestling that we see at High School and the skills learned are great supliment to any wrestlers bag of tricks.
