2011-12 Kingco JV Tournament

Roosevelt Wrestling is proud to be hosting the 2011-12 KINGCO 4A JV Wrestling Tournament.

From 2011 JV KingCo

Each of the 11 KingCo teams picks a varsity wrestler to represent them at the Kingco Championship.

The KingCo JV tournament is the way that the rest of the Kingco wrestlers get a chance to go on to state. If you place at the Kingco JV tournament, you can to on to Kingco, regionals and State.

Participating schools: Ballard, Bothell, Eastlake, Garfield, Inglemoor, Issaquah, Newport, Redmond, Roosevelt, Skyline, Woodinville
When: Saturday, January 28, 2012
Weigh in at 8:00 AM
Coaches meeting at 8:30 in commons
Wrestling starts at 9:30 AM (three mats)
Where: Roosevelt HS main gym (enter parking lot from 12th Ave. NE) 1410 NE 66th St. Seattle, WA. 98115
**Post season qualifying 2 pound growth allowance in effect, plus 1 pound for consecutive days of competition. Example; 106=109
Each school will only be allowed one entry per weight class even if open spots exist in a bracket. 3(three) berths per wt. class to 4A KingCo Wrestling Tournament

Note: 1. School faculty passes will NOT be honored.
2. Only Kingco “BLUE colored” scouting passes and lifetime passes accepted! Pass List: Each school must submit a Pass List prior to the ticket gates opening.
Cheerleaders will be admitted in uniform only and with an advisor.

The RoughRiders travel to Bothell on Tuesday January 24th, 2012.
Because of the rescheduled Newport match on Monday, there will be a 1lb allowance for this dual meet. There may be a few JV matches prior to the scheduled 7:30pm varsity start time. This is the last dual meet of the year.

Rescheduled- 2012 Wrestling Senior Night

Roosevelt Wrestling 2012 Senior Night will be before the rescheduled Newport Dual at 7:00pm Monday Jan 23rd.

From 2010 Post Season

Last year was a re-building year for Newport, but in 2012 they are back with a solid team, and the Roosevelt squad has their work cut out for them if they want to extend their winning streak.

Happy Snow Days! More importantly, DON’T GET COMPLACENT! You guys should be viewing this break as an enormous opportunity. Here, wrestling events in the entire league/region have been momentarily halted in the middle of the season. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE. Hopefully everybody will be equally rusty in terms of technique, but more than any other time so far, this is your chance to shine physically. Because practices have been cancelled, people that don’t have the motivation to continue their training will suffer severely solely because of this week. If you are winning, you need to continue your training to remain in the physical tip-top shape you were before the break. If you haven’t had as much success as you’d like, this is the perfect opportunity to get ahead of competition!

Examples of easy ways to put in work:
Go play in the snow!
Walk your dogs, but try to get them running
Do some hill sprints (be careful for ice)
Go to a nearby park and get a light jog on
If you have any weights at home, do some light lifting
Jump roping
Football, Soccer etc

In addition, here is your assignment :) :
100 pushups
100 sit ups
35 pull ups
12 minutes of stance and motion (first 2 minutes just move around, next 4 introduce downblocks, sprawls, and shots, 1 minute break, repeat)

Double Dual of the Year – Jan 10, 2012

January 10th has the Double Dual of the year at Roosevelt High School.
At 6:00pm Issaquah steps onto the RHS mat. After beating Roosevelt year after year, 2012 should be a close meet with Issaquah. The team that doesn’t get pinned will win. There will be a couple of great match-ups with state ranked wrestlers from both schools meeting in what are sure to be previews of the Disctrict and Regional showdowns.At 7:30pm The Redmond Mustangs show up for a little breaking in by the Roosevelt Roughriders.
