2008-09 Past Events
Attention
high school 215 and 285 pounders heavyweights. With all of
the
camps that go on throughout the summer, this clinic fits in between
some camps and before our National Team has its final camp before going
to Fargo for Nationals. The clinic has turned into a two day
mini
camp and we will be doing some technique and some live wrestling in the
5 sessions that are scheduled and we’ll be sleeping overnight in our
wrestling room. We are centrally located here in Moses Lake
and
so it’s a perfect location to allow everyone the opportunity to get to
this specialty clinic.

Location: Boren Middle School 5950 Delridge

Directions
Date: 12-06-08
Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm
The
Chief Sealth Wrestling Tournament is this Saturday 12/6. A bus will
leave
Roosevelt at 7:30 AM. sharp.If
your late you need to be
prepared to drive to Delridge Wy. If you want to drive to weigh in, you
need to
meet us at Roosevelt to coordinate.
I will
announce the varsity and JV line ups for the tournament on Friday at
practice.
Varsity wrestlers are guaranteed a spot in the tournament. JV's are
not. Some
JV's will get into the 16 team tourny to fill in vacancys left by other
teams.
Some weight classes will be full of varsity wrestlers and will not have
room
for any JV's. We will not know who gets in until weigh ins are
finished. JV
wrestlers travel to the tournament at their own risk.
There
will not be a bus to bring the kids back to Roosevelt. Usually kids
catch a
ride back to the Roosevelt area with other families if there parents
are
unavailable. No one will be left behind!
The
address for the tourny is Boren Middle School 5950 Delridge
Wy SW,
98106.
It's
easy to find. Get on Delridge and keep looking to your left side. It
will be
the school with all the out of town school buses parked in it.
Wrestling
starts at 10AM, which means that it will probably start at 11 AM. Dress
and
prepare the same way that you would if you were going to be at the
airport all
day and all night. Good food with protein. Avoid the junk. Water,
water, water.
The
Sealth Tourny will go until at least 8PM.
If
your wrestler is in the tourny they are guaranteed 2 matches, which
will keep
them in contention until at least noon. After that it's a crap shoot,
if you
keep winning you advance farther along until the medal rounds. Then you
are
sure to be there until at least 6PM. You are either picking up your
wrestler at
Delridge or letting him catch a ride home with someone else later in
the day.
Even better, come watch your child compete.
There is
a
one pound allowance for the Sealth Tourny. 103 is now 104. 145 is now
146. Etc.

RHS Takedown Jamboree
Saturday November 29th 2008
10:00am
Roosevelt hosted an early season Takedown Tournament in the
main gym. In a
Takedown Tournament, points are only given for take downs so wrestlers
get
a great chance to practice this critical skill. 9 teams from
around the region, were in attendance.
The
bake sale was a huge success. The Jamboree ran like a swiss clock. The
table were flawless. The hospitality area served our guests
exceptionally.
Injuries were addressed professionally. The clean up was quick
and thorough.
Special
thanks to Barbara Bender for all her hard work running the bake
sale/concessions. Thanks to all the others who worked at the bake sale,
too.
Big
thanks to Jim Mathieu, Robert Amkraut, Bill Spurr, Charlie Spurr, Steve
Jones and
Atar Rahman for their tireless work at the tables.
A
shout out to Aiden, Max, and Nolan for there volunteering with the
towel
tapping.
Kudos
to Amanda, Ruby and the gymnastics girls for all there hard work with
set up,
and bracket management. They really saved the show.
Gratitude
to the wrestlers from Ingraham, the wrestlers from
Roosevelt, and
anyone else who helped clean the gym in quick time so that the B
ballers could
get in the gym before midnight.
It
was a lot of work, but we represented our school
well. Nice job
Special thanks toFrank Leeds.
J.M.
Message from the Coach:
The
wrestling season is well under way and there are a number of very
important things that need to be taken
care of.
1.
Weight Assessments.
Monday
Nov.24 at 7PM at Blanchet High.
All wrestlers are required to do a beginning of the year weight
assessment the
results of which is to be recorded on with the National
wrestling coaches'
association weight management program.
If you
misses this assessment you will not be able to wrestle and
will have to travel to a regional site and pay a fee for a future
assessment.
2. Team
parent meeting on Tuesday Nov. 25 at 5:30 at the wrestling
room.
We will explain
the weight management program to new parents. We need to discuss
upcoming
events and involvement in such events. The meeting duration will be kept under 30 minutes.
A family
rep needs to
attend this meeting.
3. Takedown Jamboree
Volunteers Needed.
Each
family should contributed baked goods to the bake sale and we need
volunteers to run the table. We also need parents to help at
the
scoring tables to keep score and time.
4. Wrestlers
Need to be Involved with the Team
Thursday
is Thanksgiving, but the kids need to be at
practice on Friday morning to help get mats upstairs. This is
very
important. They also need to participate on Saturday as well.
Practices will be held over the
Winter break and wrestlers are expected to be there.
Please
don't over book your kids this wrestling
season.
